  1. What is Usher™?
    Usher is the coolest way to manage Facebook events. It is a free mobile app that lets you plan exclusive events easily from your smartphone and then manage the event from end-to-end.
  2. Can I use Usher to validate my membership in a group?
    Yes. Tap on the groups tab in your wallet, tap the group you’re a member of, and then show your badge. Any group member can check-in all other group members.
  3. Is Usher coming to other smartphone platforms (other than iPhone)?
    Yes. We have plans to support the Android platform in the future.
  4. Can I login to the web version of my Usher Wallet from any web browser?
    The web version of Usher Wallet is compatible with most major internet browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Go to www.usher.com and login to view your Usher Wallet.
  5. What is my “Inbox”?
    The “Inbox” allows you to receive invitations, RSVP, and review invitations to all your social events. You can also view your events in a calendar or agenda view to help you decide which events to attend.
  6. What is my “Wallet”?
    The “Wallet” allows you to review the events you’ve accepted or tentatively accepted, conveniently check where the event is happening in a map and look up directions to the event. You can also view your events in a calendar or agenda view.
  7. What is my “Portfolio”?
    The “Portfolio” allows you to review events you’ve created, see who’s RSVP’d, and view demographic information of your guests.
  8. What is “Validate”?
    “Validate” allows you to check-in guests to an event.
  9. What is “My Account”?
    “My Account” allows you to change photo, view tutorials, contact us for support, and view event recycle bin, event archives, privacy policy, and terms of use.
  1. What if I want to host an event with Usher but I’m not on Facebook?
    Usher currently supports Facebook Events. We will be adding more social networks in the future.
  2. If I create an event on Usher, will the event show up in Facebook?
    Yes. The Usher-created event will appear as a Facebook Event. Friends who do not use Usher can still RSVP to the event through Facebook.
  3. If I create a Facebook event, will the event show up in Usher?
    Yes. The next time you open the Usher application, it will update to show all your events.
  4. If I am a host, can I invite friends not on Facebook?
    You can request them as a friend on Facebook. Upon their acceptance as your Facebook friend, you can invite them to the event.
  5. If I am a host, but don’t have an iPhone, how can I create an event and invite guests?
    You can use the Facebook website to create your event and invite Facebook friends.
  6. If I am a host, but don’t have an iPhone, how can I manage the door?
    Managing the door is only available on the iPhone, so you’ll need to choose one of your friends with an iPhone to manage the door (as a Sentinel). They will need to download Usher on their iPhone and be made an administrator of the event on Facebook.
  7. If I’m a host, can I validate paper tickets from an iPhone?
    Yes. The paper ticket has your Facebook photo, name, and a QR code that can be scanned by Usher.
  8. Can I invite people who do not use Facebook to my event?
    You can do this at www.facebook.com by inviting your guests via email.
  9. What is the QR Code and when should it be used?
    The QR code (also known as Quick Response Code) is a security code for checking-in guests, specific to an event and guest. The QR Code is a scanner check-in method that should ideally be used for face-to-face interactions at the door when event security is a major concern.
  10. What is the Sight Code™ and when should it be used?
    The Sight Code™ is an event-specific animation that changes on a specified time interval for security purposes for checking-in guests. The Sight Code™ is a visual check-in method that is ideally used for checking-in long lines at the door with visual proof of identification/invitation. The Sight Code™, a theme that is customizable by the host, can also check-in through geo-validation (i.e., when a sight code is brought up at the geo coordinates of the event, the guest is automatically checked in). Very cool!
  11. What is the Phrase Code™ and when should it be used?
    The Phrase Code™ is an event-specific word phrase that changes on a specified time interval for security purposes and checks-in guests by mentioning the phrase. The Phrase Code™ is a verbal check-in that is ideally used for non-face-to-face interactions (at the time of check-in) that require verbal proof of identification/invitation.
  12. What is the Usher Code™ and when should it be used?
    The Usher Code™ is a 4-digit number security code that changes on a specified time interval for checking in guests through entering the number, specific to an event and guest. The Usher Code™ is an input check-in method that is ideally used for face-to-face interactions that require proof of identification/invitation and when event security is a major concern.
  13. How do I create custom lists of guests?
    When you are adding guests, you can conveniently filter your Facebook friends to select the right people to invite or select existing friend lists. Once you’ve created a filter, you can save that filter to use again for future events.
  14. Can Usher support public events?
    Yes. Although the Usher software creates private events by default, you can use the web version of Facebook to make the event public.
  15. Can Usher support page events?
    Yes. If a friend invites you to a Facebook page event, the page event will show up in Usher.
  16. Can I create an Usher event for a page and use Usher to invite someone to the page event?
    No. You can use Facebook to create and invite friends to page events.
  17. Does Usher work with phone and e-mail contacts?
    Not at this time, but this feature should be available in the future.
  18. Does Usher work with multiple databases such as Microsoft Excel or list serves?
    Not at this time, but this feature should be available in the future.
  19. Can Usher handle payment transactions?
    Not at this time, but this feature should be available in the future.
  20. Can I create an Usher event for a group and use Usher to invite someone to the group event?
    No. You can use Facebook to create and invite friends to group events.
  21. As a host, what type of information is available to me about my event and guests?
    You have access to a wide range of information about your events, including guest RSVP status, attendance status, demographics (gender, age, relationship status), and Facebook Page likes.
  22. Can I print or e-mail my guest list from Usher?
    Yes. Tap on the event in your portfolio and then tap the icon with the magnifying glass on the bottom of the screen.
  1. What if someone wants to use Usher to invite me to a Facebook event and I don’t have a Facebook account?
    Sorry, you cannot attend a Facebook event without a Facebook account. It’s free and easy to set up your own account at www.facebook.com.
  2. If I am a guest, but don’t have an iPhone, how can I RSVP to an Usher event?
    You can RSVP to the event on Facebook.
  3. If I am a guest and have a smartphone that isn’t an iPhone, how can I check-in to an event?
    It’s easy, just go to www.usher.com on your smartphone’s web browser, login, and show your ticket on your smartphone at check-in.
  4. If I am a guest, but don’t have a smartphone, how can I check-in to an event?
    Navigate to www.usher.com on a computer, login, then simply print your ticket and take it with you to check-in at the event.
  5. If I am a guest, but forgot my smartphone and Usher ticket, how can I check-in to an event?
    You can show any acceptable form of identification (e.g. driver’s license) to the sentinel and they can check you in.
  6. How can I use Usher to check-in to an event?
    Tap on the specific event in your Wallet and then tap on “show ticket”. Or you can just double-tap on the specific event from your list of events. You can check-in by utilizing the event name, event date, your name, your picture, QR code, Sight Code™, Phrase Code™, or Usher Code™.
  7. Can a guest check-out of an event using Usher?
    Yes, if the event has check-out needs, any sentinel can scan the checking-out guest.
  8. Can I check-in multiple times to the same event using Usher?
    Yes, you can check-in multiple times to the same event, but each time you check-in after the first time the Sentinel is made aware of this through a special notification.
  9. Do I need to use all Usher check-in methods to check-in to the event?
    No. While there are multiple check-in methods provided within Usher for addressing different needs of secure check-in, you will only need to use one of the check-in methods (usually set by the host as the “preferred method for checking-in”).
  10. Can I see who is coming to the event I am going to in Usher?
    Yes. Tap on the event in your wallet to view the list of guests attending.
  11. What if I want to change my RSVP status if I have said “no” earlier?
    Easy. Go to the Account tab, tap Recycle Bin, tap the event you are looking for, and change your RSVP.
  12. What if I want to change my RSVP status if I have said “yes or maybe” earlier?
    Easy. Go to the Wallet tab, tap the event you are looking for, and change your RSVP.
  13. What if I want to find events that already happened?
    Easy. Go to the Account tab, tap Archives, and tap the event you are looking for.
  14. Can I add Usher events to my phone calendar?
    Yes. When you open an event from your Inbox and RSVP ‘yes’ or ‘maybe’ to the event, you are given the option to add the event to your calendar. You can also just tap on the event in your wallet and then tap the icon with the calendar on the bottom of the screen.
